It looks as though a new Katamari game is in the works, as Bandai Namco has registered a number of 'Tap My Katamari' trademarks and domains.

The name seems to suggest a mobile or handheld Katamari game, but naturally Bandai Namco has not yet commented on the rumours.

It's been several years since Namco's last Katamari effort, Touch My Katamari, which launched alongside the PlayStation Vita in 2011 in Japan and 2012 in the west.

Despite relatively low launch sales for Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox One and Xbox 360, Microsoft and Square Enix are "very happy" with the game, according to the game's director, Brian Horton.

Horton spoke with fans on the Tomb Raider forum in a thread concerning our figures for first week sales of the game.

"Microsoft and Square are very happy with Rise and the dev team, thanks for the concerns," said Horton. "Crystal and Eidos Montreal made a game we are proud of and we appreciate the overwhelming number of positive reviews and fan feedback."

"We're looking forward to the Game Awards next week where we are nominated for Best Action Adventure and Best Performance for Camilla. Wish us luck, hopefully it's just the beginning of the recognition Tomb Raider and Lara Croft receives this year. It's cool to see her on top again for the second game in a row."

"We're all fans and for me it's been the honor of my career to be a part of such a fantastic legacy. Next year 20th Anniversary!"

Horton added that the development team is focused more on the positive reviews the game has received, as it is not responsible for how well the game sells.

"The dev team is not responsible for sales and therefore we look to reviews and releasing on time to gauge our performance," Horton noted. "We acomplished these goals. The press considers Rise of the Tomb Raider a high quality game based on the scores. I don't see any of this as a lie."

"I didn't mean to go off topic or patronize, but there was suggestion in the thread that the reported sales numbers reflect poorly on the dev team," he added. "Square/Microsoft are happy with Crystal and Eidos Montreal and the game itself. As to the topic of sales, I'm unqualified to discuss it so I won't have anything else to say on this thread. Much love TRF and happy holidays."

Rise of the Tomb Raider launched on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 earlier this month and will release on Windows PC and PlayStation 4 in 2016.

Sony has updated the PlayStation 4 SDK to give developers access to another core that was previously unused.

"Core 6 is now denoted as shared, and for new captures, Razor splits the activity on that core between user and system," reads the update from Sony. "Old captures still show core 6 as a system core, as was accurate at the time they were made."

Core 6 is the seventh core that has been unlocked for developers. Previously, the available cores were listed as 0 to 5, according to sources that spoke with VG24/7. The PlayStation 4 has eight cores in total.

Nintendo will begin mass production of its upcoming NX platform in the second quarter of 2016, according to a report by DigiTimes.

The report states that Nintendo is targeting to ship 20 million units of the NX in 2016. However, the upstream component suppliers expect Nintendo to ship between 10 million and 12 million units. It's worth remembering that these are figures that the Wii U has achieved in roughly three years.

Foxconn Technology, Macronix, Pixart Imaging, Coxon Precise Industrial, Nishoku Technology, Delta Technology, Lingsen Precision Industries, and Jentech will all supply components for the upcoming platform.

Very little is known about the platform at this time, but if it does enter mass production in the second quarter of 2016 that would give it a likely release window of holiday 2016.

The Nintendo Wii U has struggled to gain traction ever since it launched three years ago, and has only recently passed the modest 10 million sold mark.

It looks like the platform isn't done for just yet, though; according to US retailer Target the Wii U was not just the best-selling video game console but was the best-selling item on all of Target.com on Black Friday.

"Gaming consoles were popular in stores and online, including Nintendo Wii U, which was the top selling item on Target.com," said the retailer.

    Thanks VG24/7.
